Kyiv hosted yet another marathon in the heart of the city on May 12.

The Kyiv Euro Marathon attracted around 3,000 participants from both Ukraine and abroad. Roughly 300 of them were children.

Financed by the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, the marathon is an annual event held in the spring.

The participants started the run from the city’s Olimpiysky Stadium, did a circle around the city center, and finished at the starting point.

This time, the marathon offered five separate distances to run: marathon (42 kilometers), half marathon (21), 12 and 6-kilometer runs, and the one for children. The runners participated alone or in teams.

The Kyiv Euro Marathon aims to develop the marathon and Olympic movements in Ukraine, promote healthy lifestyles and athletics, and contribute to Ukraine’s positive image and the development of sports in the country.
