Spring is in full bloom in Kyiv. Despite Russia’s war still raging in the parts of Donbas, peace reigns in Ukraine’s capital.
The city is getting ready for the Eurovision Song Contest that will take place in Kyiv on May 9-13. Hundreds of Kyiv’s utility workers can be seen here and there, tidying up the streets, repairing the roads and mowing lawns.
While public services are busy, Kyiv residents and tourists take every free minute to enjoy the sunshine. It seems that the news of Ukraine finally getting the visa-free travel with the European Union had encouraged optimism in Ukrainians, tired of war and economic crisis.
People on the streets talk about ways to get the tickets for Eurovision, relax lying on the green grass and dream about the upcoming tourism season with more destinations becoming available in Europe.
