Kyivans, foreigners run in annual half-marathon

Kyivans start the two-kilometer charity race as they participate in the Kyiv annual half-marathon on April 17.

The sixth Nova Poshta Kyiv Half-Marathon took place this year on April 17.

Some 7,100 participants from 43 countries including the U.S., Turkey, Israel, Latvia and Germany took part in the race, but the winners of the race were locals.

Taras Salo made it in just 64 minutes, while Anna Nosenko ran a 21-kilometer distance in 73 minutes. Both winners set records in men and women race category.

Nearly 2,000 participants ran the half-marathon distance of 21 kilometers. Others chose easier options and ran 10, five and two-kilometer races. Ukrainian celebrities – pop-singer Nastya Kamenskikh, TV anchor Marichka Padalko and showman Anatoliy Anatolich also participated in the half-marathon. Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko ran a two-kilometer charity race.
