Kyiv faced extreme heat on the weekend of July 25-26 with the temperature rising to 35 degrees Celsius.
Many preferred to escape the heat at the city beaches on the banks of Dnipro river. One of the most popular beaches in Hydropark, a park on the two islands in central Kyiv, saw thousands of visitors through the weekend.
Apart from the common beach activities, they enjoyed the Hydropark special – diving off the Venetsiyanskiy Bridge that connects two islands.
The Central Geophysical Observatory proclaimed July 26 the hottest day in 80 years in Kyiv, following the July 26 of 1936, when the temperature hit 35.5 degrees Celsius.
