Lines, sprints, and humiliation at Stanytsia Luhanska crossing point

Every day, about 10,000 mostly elderly residents cross the partly destroyed bridge over Siversky Donets River at the Stanytsia Luhanska checkpoint.

This is the only crossing point between government-controlled Luhansk Oblast and the Russian-occupied portion.

Most of those who make the crossing are senior citizens who live in the Russian-controlled area but regularly travel to the government side to collect their pensions, or do paperwork to keep receiving them.
