Internally displaced people from east Ukraine took part in rally to defend their rights in front of the building of the Cabinet of Ministers in Kyiv on June 14.

An estimated 1.4 million people have been internally displaced in Ukraine due to Russia’s covert war on Ukraine in the Donbas.

Ukraine has been in economic distress since the EuroMaidan Revolution in the winter of 2013-2014, when, after former President Viktor Yanukovych fled the country, it was revealed that his regime had looted state coffers of billions of dollars, which has yet to be recovered.

Internally displaced people, many of whom have lost their homes in the fighting in the east, are paid only Hr 900 ($36) a month in benefits by the state.
