Several hundred people protested in central Kyiv on July 27 to show support to Mikheil Saakashvili, ex-Georgian president and ex-governor of Odesa Oblast, who was de facto stripped of his Ukrainian citizenship by a presidential decree a day before.

Saakashvili, who moved to Ukraine in 2015 and received a Ukrainian passport from President Petro Poroshenko, lost his Georgian citizenship in the end of 2015. He is prosecuted in Georgia for abuse of office and embezzlement.
