Ukrainian fashion week has started in Mystetsky Arsenal in Kyiv. As has become a tradition over many years, the first designer to present their S/S 2017 collection at Ukraine’s biggest fashion event was Lilia Poustovit.
Poustovit’s S/S 17 collection has a very obvious nautical vibe to it. Models with wet hair, looking as if they had just come from the beach, strode along the catwalk in striped shirts and dresses, which were quirkily mixed with romantic garments and complimented by sports shoes (co-designed with Ukrainian shoe brand L.A.P.T.I.). The whole collection makes you want to pack your suitcase and escape to a summer resort.
Other designers and labels to present their latest pieces were Yulia Polishchuk, Elena Burenina, GOLETS, Label ONE, Zalevskiy, Alonova, Anastasiia Ivanova and Vozianov.
This fashion week is special because this season the International biennale of fashion illustration IMAGO is also taking place, in which 278 participants from 15 countries will compete to win a study trip to London, financed by Vogue UA. The organizers of the biennale have presented the contestants’ work, and the winner will be announced on Oct. 28.
