On Aug. 24, Ukraine celebrated the 30th anniversary of independence. The country proclaimed independence from the Soviet Union on Aug. 24, 1991.
The celebrations included a military parade in central Kyiv, an evening music show at the Olimpiysky Stadium, and other events.
