The cold snap continues in Kyiv into mid January, with temperatures on Jan. 18 below freezing all day. Early-morning mist has shrouded the city for several days in a row, driven away each day by clear winter sunshine.
Temperatures, currently hovering around -2 to -4 Celsius, are expected to drop further later later in the week, and then edge above freezing over the weekend.
