Meet the people fighting for Kyiv’s Soviet modernist architecture

While neglected by owners and authorities, Kyiv’s modernist Soviet-era buildings attract tourists and video production companies from abroad. The Save Kyiv Modernism movement advocates for the protection of such distinct Soviet architecture.They argue that while Soviet buildings are not perfect, they were designed under strict regulations and careful city planning strategies. But today, construction rules in Kyiv are neglected, which creates infrastructural and social problems.
