Ukraine is commemorating the soldiers who defended the Donetsk airport against Russian hybrid forces. They fought for 242 days in late 2014 and the start of 2015. During that time, volunteers from across Ukraine collected clothes, food, and equipment for the soldiers. Usually, they met with the servicemen in nearby villages. Oleksiy Mochanov is one of the few volunteers who witnessed the fighting at the airport.
