Experts from the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) have noted Ukraine's success in the development of effective national mechanisms in the fight against corruption in 2010.
"The law enforcement agencies in Ukraine achieved remarkable successes in fighting corruption. It is indicative that their recent efforts have been concentrated on fighting corruption in state power at the highest level," Secretary General of the IAACA Ye Feng said in his letter to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, the presidential press service reported on Tuesday.
According to the IAACA experts, for the first time since the declaration of Ukraine’s independence, high-ranking officials have become subject to anti-corruption checks and investigations.
The IAACA welcomed the openness and transparency of the Ukrainian national anti-corruption agencies while carrying out the relevant investigations, as well as the participation of experts, in particular, from world-known audit and judicial companies "with impeccable reputations" in conducting financial checks.
"Successful counteractions against corruption at this level, along with the measures taken by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine to indemnify against damages, is a guarantee of the improvement of state mechanisms," the association said.
The IAACA said it fully supports the "All Are Equal before the Law" slogan declared by President Viktor Yanukovych, and considers it fair.
"We are sure that the leadership of national anti-corruption agencies are persistent and experienced enough, and are committed to resisting any pressure," the IAACA head said.
The IAACA was founded in 2006. At present it is the first international anti-corruption association, the members of which are drawn from anti-corruption agencies from all over the world.
