You're reading: Kyiv council cancels decision on privatization of Volodymyrsky and Zhytniy markets

Kyiv City Council has excluded the non-residential buildings in which the Volodymyrsky and Zhytniy markets are located from the list of the objects subject to privatization. As an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reports, 111 deputies of the city council approved the decision on Tuesday.

Kyiv City Council canceled the items in the privatization program for non-residential buildings located at 115 Gorky Street and 13 Verkhniy Val Street, the sites of the abovementioned markets.

In addition, the city council set a moratorium on the alienation of the property of the Volodymyrsky and Zhytniy markets, including a ban on changing the type of activity they can perform.

Kyiv City Council also charged the main financial audit department and main municipal property management department to within 30 days inspect the markets’ financial activity and prepare a report on improving the utilization efficiency of these property complexes.

The city council also satisfied a protest by Kyiv prosecutor’s office against its decision to privatize the non-residential buildings of the two markets of the capital.
