You're reading: Ukrainian female climber found dead on Elbrus

NALCHIK – Rescuers have found a body of a Ukrainian climber, Maryna Khytriakova, at the height of 4,700 meters on Mount Elbrus, the spokesman for the Russian Emergency Ministry's branch in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic Murat Apadzhikhov.

Spokesperson for the North Caucasian Regional Emergency Center of Russia Kantemir Davydov said that Khytriakova was 21.

Thirty-five rescuers continue the search for the remaining third Ukrainian climber, Davydov said.

As reported, three Ukrainian climbers got lost on Mount Elbrus on March 2.

"During their descent from Mount Elbrus two residents of Kharkiv fell behind, and the head of the Dnipropetrovsk group, Maryna Khytriakova, decided to stay with them, while eight people safely descended to the Gara-Bashi hut (Bochki)," Davydov said earlier on Saturday.

On March 3, rescuers found one of the climbers alive at the height of 4,100 meters.
