SIMFEROPOL – Following recent unrest in Moldova, Ukrainian police have increased patrols along the state border with that neighboring country, Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko said on Thursday.

“Right after the events in Chisinau, the Ukrainian police significantly increased its presence along the Ukraine-Moldova state border in Odesa region to prevent the trespassing of armed extremist groups on the territory of Ukraine,” Lutsenko said at a press conference in Simferopol.

“In all circumstances, we will protect our state border from any extremists,” he added.
