You're reading: If elected president, Yatseniuk promises to transfer power to the people

Presidential candidates Arseniy Yatseniuk has said that if he wins the elections he will be guided by the will of the people while implementing his New Course program, the press service of the politician said on Friday.

The politician said that if his initiatives as president were not supported by the government, he would address people for the support.

"I will address you with every initiative. You will take decisions at referendums, and I will prove that in Ukraine, power belongs to the people. I will conduct the ‘nationalization’ of state power. I will transfer it to your hands, out of private hands. All you need to do is accept it," Yatseniuk said.

He said that he saw the presidency not as an end in itself. He said he was sure that the head of state had to work to achieve one main purpose – the modernization of the country.
