The state prosecution is not planning to submit an application for the questioning of witnesses from Russia in the case on charges brought against former Premier Yulia Tymoshenko regarding the abuse of office when signing gas supply contracts with Russia in 2009

"The court summons witnesses who can give certain testimony about the events that took place… Witnesses from Russia were not summoned," a representative of the prosecution, Mykhailo Shorin, told reporters on Wednesday.

He added that if respective petitions are filed, the court would consider them, but "the prosecution does not intend to do it."

As reported, third Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko on Wednesday provided testimony at the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv, which is considering the gas supply case against Tymoshenko. He asked the court to consider the possibility of questioning Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller.

"In my opinion, the involvement of these people in participating in the case as witnesses is an obligatory condition for establishing all of the circumstances that preceded the signing of such an agreement," Yuschenko said.
