Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has appointed former chairman of Ukraine's state rail operator Ukrzaliznytsia Mykhailo Kostiuk as head of Lviv Regional State Administration.
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has appointed former chairman of Ukraine’s state rail operator Ukrzaliznytsia Mykhailo Kostiuk as head of Lviv Regional State Administration.
The president also appointed Regions Party MP Oleksandr Peklushenko head of Zaporizhia Regional State Administration.
Respective decrees were posted on the Web site of the head of state on Wednesday.
Kostiuk headed Ukrzaliznytsia from December 2008 to March 2011. He previously worked as the deputy director general of Ukrzaliznytsia.
Peklushenko, born in 1954, is a Regions Party MP, and the first deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee on finance, banking and customs policy.
On Wednesday, Yanukovych dismissed Mykhailo Tsymbaliuk as head of Lviv Regional State Administration and Borys Petrov as head of Zaporizhia Regional State Administration.
Tsymbaliuk was appointed governor of Lviv region on Dec. 21, 2010. From June 16, 2010, he headed Ternopil Regional State Administration.
In May 2011, Tsymbaliuk submitted a letter of resignation in connection with incidents reported during May 9 celebrations in Lviv, but the president did not dismiss him.
Petrov was appointed governor of Zaporizhia region in March 2010. In 2006-2010, he was a Regions Party MP in the Verkhovna Rada of the fifth and sixth convocations, and he headed the parliamentary committee on legal policy.
