You're reading: Canadian doctors ready to examine Tymoshenko in detention facility

The Embassy of Canada in Ukraine is ready to organize an examination of former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko by Canadian doctors.

Representatives of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine held a working meeting with Canada’s Ambassador to Ukraine Troy Lulashnyk in Kyiv on Friday.

"A working meeting was held at the request of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry upon an inquiry of Canadian Foreign Minister John Russell Baird," reads the statement.

During the meeting, the Canadian side proposed to send a group of doctors from Canada to examine Tymoshenko.

The Embassy of Canada in Ukraine will send an official proposal on the issue. The Ukrainian side informed the delegation about the necessity to take into account conducting procedures in line with national legislation.
