You're reading: Strong Ukraine party decides on disbanding to join Regions Party

The second session of the second convention of the Strong Ukraine Party took place in Kyiv on Saturday, and the delegates supported the proposal of party leader Sergiy Tigipko to combine reform efforts with the Regions Party, according to the party's press service.

The major issue considered at the meeting was the consolidation of the party’s efforts with the Regions Party to modernize the country.
Some 332 delegates from all regional organizations of the party participated in the congress.

"With the aim of uniting the Strong Ukraine party with the Regions Party to invigorate reforms and modernize the country, endorsing the political agreement of the parties and guided by the law of Ukraine on political parties and the charter of the Strong Ukraine party, the delegates at the second convention of the Strong Ukraine party decided to liquidate the party (through disbanding)," reads a statement.
