The members of the disbanded Strong Ukraine party have joined the Regions Party, according to an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent.
A political agreement to merge the parties was signed at the 13th congress of the Regions Party in Kyiv on Saturday. The document was signed by Party of Regions Chairman Mykola Azarov and Sergiy Tigipko, who previously headed the Strong Ukraine party.
The presidium of the Regions Party political council, the council of regions, the local party organizations were instructed to take necessary measures to solve organizational issues related to ensuring the process of merger.
Azarov has handed a membership card of the Regions Party to Sergiy Tigipko.
In addition, Tigipko has been unanimously elected Regions Party deputy chairman and member of the party political council.
