You're reading: Vlasenko: German doctors must select clinic for Tymoshenko

Defense lawyer for Ukraine's ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, parliamentary deputy Serhiy Vlasenko said Tymoshenko must undergo medical treatment at a clinic to be selected by German doctors who diagnosed her health problems.

Since German doctors provided recommendations on Tymoshenko’s medical treatment, the German doctors must choose the clinic which will best follow their recommendations. This is the key issue," Vlasenko said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine on April 2.

"Tymoshenko could be moved to a hospital which will not be able to provide the medical treatment required. She must be treated at a specialized medical clinic," he said, adding that German doctors should select one.

The defense will protest her transportation to an ordinary hospital before selecting a specialized clinic for her, Vlasenko said.

"This would be a wrong approach. We don’t want them to move Yulia Tymoshenko to an accidental hospital formally and then report proudly that they have fulfilled the European Court ruling," he said.

The Prosecutor General’s Office earlier reported that Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka had given the nod to Tymoshenko’s medical treatment outside the prison where she is serving her term.
