Kyiv, December 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) - A total of 450 official observers from the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO) will arrive in Ukraine to monitor the presidential elections.
Head of ENEMO mission Taskyn Rakhimbek said this at a press conference in Kyiv on Dec. 14.
According to her, the mission will consist of 21 non-governmental organizations from 17 countries of the CIS and Eastern Europe, in particular, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Georgia, Moldova, Belarus, as well as Albania, Romania, and Serbia.
It is expected that 50 long-term observers will arrive in Ukraine and start monitoring the elections by the end of the current week – two persons in each of 24 regions, as well as in Kyiv.
Another 400 short-term observers will arrive on the eve of the elections and will monitor the procedure of voting and counting the votes in all regions.
The head of ENEMO mission also said that the activity of the mission would be financed via grants of a number of states and organizations, although she didn’t name them.
She also said that ENEMO mission would cooperate with other international missions, including CIS-EMO, which consists of official observers from the countries of the CIS, including Russia.
