The Party of Regions has information that the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc (BYT) is trying to bring Poles and Lithuanians, along with Georgians, disguised as observers, to Ukraine in order to destabilize the situation, Viktor Yanukovych said.

"We have received more information about so-called observers coming to our country from Lithuania and Poland […] We have the information that several motor ships with passengers are due to arrive from Georgia via Odesa," the Party of Regions leader told the Odesa-based television company Akademia on Monday.

"It is clear that they are militants, and they are on their way to help out Tymoshenko," he added.

The border service, the Ukrainian Security Service and the Foreign Ministry have been informed, the party leader said.

The Party of Regions is not an authority and has no real leverage to prevent destabilization and meddling by foreigners in the voting process, he said.

"The response is up to the current authorities… otherwise, there will be a call to arms to show them what the Ukrainian people are," he said.

Hopefully, the situation will be discussed at the next session of the National Security and Defense Council tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, Yanukovych said.
