Washington, February 16 (Interfax) - The United States remains in regular talks with Russia on cooperation on missile defense, said U.S. Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Ellen Tauscher.

The United States is open to Russian participation in any missile defense architecture being developed by NATO, she said.

Indeed the U.S. would like to see Russia among its partners, Tauscher said by telephone on Monday, Feb. 15.

The U.S. has been involved in intense talks with Russia to make it clear what this system is like and how it differs from the previous administration’s, Tauscher said.

The missile defense system is not targeted against Russia, Tauscher reaffirmed.
