Włodzimierz Czarzasty has made a number of public criticisms of the U.S. head of state, most recently declaring that he would not support a Nobel Peace Prize nomination for Trump as he “does not deserve it.”

“Effective immediately, we will have no further dealings, contacts, or communications with... Czarzasty, whose outrageous and unprovoked insults directed against President Trump has made himself a serious impediment to our excellent relations with Prime Minister Tusk and his government,” ambassador Thomas Rose posted on the X platform on Thursday.

“We will not permit anyone to harm U.S.–Polish relations, nor disrespect [Trump], who has done so much for Poland and the Polish people,” Rose added.

In response to a subsequent social media comment accusing him of interfering in Polish domestic politics, Rose wrote: “Anyone who insults and denigrates my president is interfering in my politics!! You do not tolerate being insulted and neither will we.”

What did Czarzasty say?

Following remarks Trump made about Washington’s NATO allies, specifically that he doubted they would come to America’s aid if needed, and belittling their role in Afghanistan, Czarzasty said Poles, “demand respect for our soldiers.”

At a wreath laying ceremony for Polish service personnel who were killed in overseas combat, the parliamentary Speaker described Trump’s comments as “scandalous.”

Then, on Feb. 2, Czarzasty responded to a letter from the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, and the Speaker of Israel’s Knesset, Amir Ohana, who were seeking support for a Nobel Peace Prize nomination for Trump.

Włodzimierz Czarzasty said Trump does not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.

Czarzasty said of the request, sent to the heads of over 100 parliaments: “I will not support the Nobel nomination for President Trump because he does not deserve it.”

A politician of the New Left party – a junior member of Poland’s governing coalition – Czarzasty also took aim at countries that “seek favor from a wealthy U.S. president”.

In addition, he criticized Trump’s impact on international bodies including the United Nations, the European Union and the World Health Organization.

‘Policy of force’

“President Trump, in my view, destabilizes these organizations, representing a policy of force and conducting transactional politics through the use of force,” he said, adding that this approach often involved breaches of international law.

In response to Rose’s social media post, Czarzasty said in a reply on X that he respected the U.S. as a key partner of Poland and “regretted” the ambassador’s comments but added that his position on Trump remained unchanged.
