Two people were hospitalized after explosions at an ammunition depot in the Achinsk district, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Russia, the district hospital told Interfax.

“Two residents have been hospitalized with fragmentation wounds,” a source said.

A fire has broken out at an ammunition depot in the community of Kamenka in the Krasnoyarsk territory, and rescue teams have started evacuating its residents, the Achinsk district emergency center informed.

“The population is being evacuated, and all emergency services are working at the scene,” a spokesperson for the center said.

An informed source told Interfax: “The evacuation of three populated areas closest to the military garrison is planned.”

Buses have been dispatched to the scene, and provisional accommodation centers are being prepared.

Witnesses have said on social media that explosions are currently heard several kilometers away from the fire scene.

The Achinsk city administration told Interfax that the incident tentatively happened at the local military garrison.

“The emergency situation is in the village of Kamenka, the Achinsk district. Explosions of projectiles are being heard in the area of the military garrison,” he said.

An emergency response team led by Achinsk administration head Ilai Akhmetov has rushed to the scene.
