ST. PETERSBURG – Gazprom is completely ready to supply gas to China along the Power of Siberia pipeline, the Russian gas giant’s deputy CEO, Vitaly Markelov said at a conference on the company’s real estate in St. Petersburg on Nov. 29.

“The gas pipeline has been built from the Chayanda field to the border with China. We’re completely ready for gas transmission,” Markelov said.

Markelov said a ceremony would be held to launch the gas supplies next week.

He also said Gazprom was aiming to produce 25 billion cubic meters of gas per year at the Chayanda field in Yakutia, the primary source of the Power of Siberia pipeline’s gas, in 2023.

The Power of Siberia trunk pipeline will deliver gas from the Irkutsk and Yakutsk gas production centers to Russian consumers in the Far East and to China via the Eastern route. Its length will total around 3,000 kilometers. The pipeline is located in the Irkutsk region, Yakutia, and the Amur region.
