MOSCOW – Gazprom has terminated contracts for pipes intended for the Gryazovets-Slavyanskaya pipeline, which is supposed to feed gas into the Nord Stream 2 offshore gas pipeline, because it believes the price is too high, business daily Vedomosti reported on Dec. 21.

Pipe companies received letters from LLC Gazprom Komplektatsiya on Dec. 20 notifying them about the cancellation of the contracts due to a change in Gazprom’s price policy for large-diameter pipe purchases.

The head of the Russian gas giant’s Department 121 for management of corporate expenses, Mikhail Sirotkin signed the order to terminate the contracts.

Vedomosti said this refers to a purchase announced on April 19, 2016 for delivery of 501,600 tonnes of large-diameter pipes worth 56.8 billion rubles. The suppliers are United Metallurgical Company (OMK), Pipe Innovation Technologies, Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant (ChelPipe), TMK and Severstal.
