Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova intends to investigate the circumstances surrounding the unauthorized rally held in Moscow on March 26.

“On March 28, Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova ordered a probe in connection with a statement by Lev Ponomaryov, executive director of the movement for Human Rights, and Lyudmila Alekseyeva, chairman of the Moscow Helsinki Group, regarding that events associated with the March 26 march in Moscow,” the human rights commissioner’s press service told Interfax.

Moskalkova also made inquiries to Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Moscow Prosecutor Vladimir Churikov, and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin as part of this probe.

“A decision will be made on the results of the probe,” the press service said.

According to earlier reports, dozens of protests against corruption, including those unauthorized by the authorities, were conducted in Russia on March 26. Organizers and participants in the unauthorized protests were detained.
