The announcement by the leader of Russia-backed separatists Alexander Zakharchenko, of the creation of Malorossiya is his personal initiative, the Russian president’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
“The announcement Zakharchenko made this morning on the subject of Malorossiya is his personal initiative,” Peskov told journalists on July 18.
“Moscow learnt about it from the media this morning,” he said.
“We remain committed to the Minsk Agreements,” the presidential spokesperson said.
