VILNIUS – Lithuania and Russia’s Gazprom have agreed on terms of gas supply in 2019; a few signatures have yet to be put to the agreement, according to Lietuvos energijos tiekimas.

“The agreement is being executed, its terms have been approved, and gas supply has been ensured since Jan. 1,” the company told BNS on Dec. 31.

The company said on Dec. 31 afternoon it was waiting for the last signatures to be put to the agreement.

Lietuvos energijos tiekimas did not disclose the amount of gas it was planning to buy from Gazprom but said it would not increase year-on-year.

Besides buying gas from Gazprom, Lietuvos energijos tiekimas is planning to buy LNG from Norway and some other suppliers.

According to Gazprom, Lithuania imported 764 million cubic meters of gas from Russia in the first half of 2018, which was a 4 percent year-on-year decline. Slightly more than half of gas consumed by Lithuania in 2017 was provided by Gazprom.
