The Russian government proposes to introduce a transition period for increasing the retirement age in 2019, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at a Cabinet meeting.

“It is proposed to introduce a fairly lengthy transition period,” he said.

“It is proposed to launch it in 2019, so that a retirement age of 65 is reached for men in 2028 and 63 for women in 2034,” he said.
