Moscow court finds ex-head of Ukrainian library guilty of extremism, embezzlement

Former head of the Library of Ukrainian Literature Natalya Sharina, charged with embezzlement and inciting ethnic hatred and violating human dignity by distributing books by Ukrainian ultranationalist author, Dmytro Korchynsky, whose works are banned in Russia, waits for the announcement of the verdict at Moscow's Meshchansky district court on June 5.

MOSCOW – The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow has found Natalya Sharina, former director of the Moscow-based Library of Ukrainian Literature, guilty of extremism and embezzlement.

“Sharina committed deeds aimed at fomenting ethnic hatred and enmity and humiliating human dignity. Sharina committed embezzlement of public funds for personal gain,” Judge Yelena Gudoshnikova said in a sentence.
