YALTA – The government cannot interfere in agreements on oil supplies between Russian and Belarus companies, Russia Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said.

“The oil industry operates entirely on market terms. Oil pices are not regulated. The add-on to the price that there used to be and that our Belarus partners are proposing be scrapped a centralized way would require the major adjustment of the principles of the Russian oil industry’s functioning,” Kozak said, when asked by Interfax whether Russia and Belarus has reached agreements on oil supplies.

“All these agreements are private, commercial contracts between our oil companies and Belneftegaz,” he said.

He said that of agreements between companies are reached then the government would welcome this. “If they do not agree then we cannot get involved. We do not regulate oil prices administratively. There’s a market mechanism,” Kozak said.
