You're reading: Patriarch Kirill hopes for continued Orthodox unity

MINSK – Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia hope the Orthodox Church will resolve the crisis and preserve its unity.

“I hope the Orthodox church will find strength to overcome the existing crises and preserve its unity,” the patriarch told reporters in Minsk on Oct. 13.

At its Oct. 15 meeting due to be held in Minsk for the first time the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church is “to resolve very many important issues including reacting to what is happening today within the family of Orthodox churches and the current situation in Ukraine,” Patriarch Kirill said.

He is visiting Belarus on Oct. 13-15.
