You're reading: Poll: Over 80 percent of Russians approve of Putin’s work

MOSCOW – President Vladimir Putin currently enjoys an 81 percent approval rating, which is 5 percent more than in February, the Levada Analytical Center told Interfax.

The disapproval rating is down to 18 percent (22 percent in February).

The performance of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is approved of by 44% of Russians (39 percent on March 7-12), and 55 percent of the population disapprove (59 percent earlier).

Half of respondents approve of the Russian government’s performance (45 percent in early March), and 49 percent disapprove (54 percent).

The State Duma’s activity is approved of by 44 percent Russians and disapproved of by 55 percent.

The belief that the country is on the right track has been strengthening, from 54 percent in February and 58 percent at the beginning of March to 63 percent now. Twenty-three percent of respondents believe that the country is headed in the wrong direction.

Levada polled 1,600 people in 136 populated localities in 52 regions on March 23-27. The margin of error is 3.4 percent.
