You're reading: Putin signs law on Russian-Armenian military grouping

MOSCOW – Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed into law a bill entitled “On the ratification of the agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia about a Joint grouping of troops (forces) of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.”

The announcement was posted on the official web portal of legal information.

The agreement, signed in Moscow on November 30, 2016, was ratified by Russia’s State Duma on July 14 and by Federation Council on July 19.

The document and its enclosure determine how the joint grouping will be formed, deployed and used. It notes that the grouping is meant to provide military security in the Caucasus collective security region.
