A prominent Russian lawmaker has resigned from his post as deputy chairman of the Russian Federation Council’s defense committee, saying unnamed critics did not like his “openness,” Russian media reported on February 12.

Frants Klintsevich, the first deputy chairman of the Defense and Security Committee in the upper house of the Russian parliament, did not elaborate on his reason for resigning, but told the Kommersant daily that “apparently, not everyone at the Federation Council liked my openness.”
