You're reading: Rosselkhoznadzor: Russia destroys 14,700 tonnes of sanctioned products to date since imposing embargo

MOSCOW – Russia has to date destroyed 14,717 tonnes of food products imported into the country that were banned under the country’s food embargo from August 6, 2015, Russia’s food safety watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor reported.

The majority of the destroyed products were plant products, totaling 14,243 tonnes. A total of 474 tonnes of animal products were destroyed.

A total of 14,880 tonnes of sanctioned plant products and 491 tonnes of animal products were withheld during this period. Only plant products were withheld during the previous week. There were no illegal animal products uncovered.
