China increased imports of Russian oil 0.94 percent year-on-year in March 2017 to 4.69 million tonnes, according to data from China’s General Administration of Customs.

Russia was again China’s biggest oil supplier in March despite the fact that supplies were down 4.5 percent on February.

Chinese imports of Russian oil grew 9.3 percent year-on-year in February.

Angola was in second place, boosting exports to China 29.12 percent year-on-year to 4.67 million tonnes. Imports from Angola totaled 3.26 million tonnes in February.

Saudi Arabia increased exports to China 14.48 percent year-on-year to 4.55 million tonnes in March while exports were down from 4.77 million tonnes in February.

China also imported Iranian oil, up 5.97 percent compared to March 2016 to 2.66 million tonnes and from Iraq – up 6.39 percent to 3.07 million tonnes.

China is the world’s second largest oil importer after the U.S. China increased total oil imports 19.5 percent to 38.95 million tonnes in March.
