You're reading: Russian Navy ships, airplanes to take part in major exercise in Baltic Sea on Aug. 1-9

The Russian Navy’s large-scale exercise, Ocean Shield 2019, is due to start in the Baltic Sea on August 1, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

“The Ocean Shield 2019 operational exercise will take place in the Baltic Sea from August 1 to August 9, 2019 under the supervision of Navy Commander Adm. Nikolai Yevmenov,” the ministry said.

“The exercise will involve a total of 49 ships and fast attack craft, 20 logistics vessels, 58 aircraft of the Navy and the Aerospace Forces and also 10,634 personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation,” it said.
