LE BOURGET – General Electric, Honeywell and Thales could contribute to a project to create a Russian-Chinese wide-bodied long-haul airliner, Yury Slyusar, the head of United Aircraft Corporation, told a press conference at the Paris Air Show.

“The project might be in its early stages but its causing a lot of interest and I personally have a lot of meetings planned [during the air show] with potential participants in international cooperation on this project,” Slyusar said.

“And we rate the capabilities of both the Russian and Chinese enterprises pretty highly, too,” he said.

In May, PJSC United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) and the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) opened an office in Shanghai for the Long Range Wide-Body Commercial Aircraft Program joint venture.

The assembly of the wide-body planes would be organized around factories in Shanghai, currently used by COMAC for the production of ARJ21 and C919 planes. The future plane is scheduled to be launched onto the market in 2025. The program will cost $13 billion to $20 billion.
