You're reading: Yandex, Uber file request with FAS on merging business in Russia

Yandex and Uber have submitted a request to the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) on the merger of their ride-sharing businesses, FAS said in a statement.

FAS said that as a result of the deal, there would be increased penetration of online taxi-hailing in the country and an expanded range of innovative solutions in logistics.

If the deal is completed, customers will continue to have access to both services, the agency said.

The request will be considered within 30 days from it being received with the right to extend for a further 2 months.

The deal has been approved by the boards of Uber and Yandex and is expected to be closed in Q4 2017.
