The head of the state-owned postal carrier Ukrposhta has said they intend to issue two new stamps in August. Writing on his Telegram channel, Ihor Smilyansky noted that “For Independence Day of Ukraine, Ukrposhta will issue a newly-designed Free. Unbreakable. Invincible stamp. This is the first such release during the war.”

“On August 24, we have a kind of symbolism – exactly six months since Ukraine is again forced to defend its independence from enemies in a war that actually lasts not half a year, not 8, not 100, and not even 300 years,” Ihor Smilyansky wrote on his Telegram channel.

“The deadlines for preparations were very tight, so that the circulation will be only 1 million stamps. But I am sure that all philately connoisseurs will be able to purchase it and add it to their collection on the occasion of Independence Day, which can be supplemented with new stamps from Ukrposhta every year,” added Ihor Smilyansky.

It also plans to issue the first NFT stamps. The famous “Russian Warship” will be the first NFT stamp to be issued during the war. The money raised from the sale of the NFT stamp will be spent on the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Since Ukrposhta does not have the right to issue NFT stamps it will first hold a tender to select a partner that will organize the issue, placement, and sale of NFTs. Ukrposhta will duly license the rights to issue NFT stamps.

Now is the Time to Intensify the Battle for Democracy

The good news from the US should be the stimulus for energizing joint efforts within the democratic world to stand up to Russia and the dangerous tyranny and chauvinism it represents.

Any legal entity or individual can take part in the selection procedure. Ukrposhta will then conclude a contract with the winner of the competition, after which the creation of an NFT stamp will begin.

NFT stands for non-fungible token. It is a unique digital asset designed on the blockchain and used as a digital currency. Ownership of an NFT is recorded in the blockchain and can be transferred by the owner. In addition, a token owner can trade it. NFTs differ from cryptocurrencies in that they are unique and can’t be replaced by others. An NFT can be associated with a particular digital or physical asset such as images, art, music, and sports highlights.
