You're reading: 5 Ukrainian national team’s players fall ill with COVID-19 before match in Germany

Five members of the Ukrainian national football team were diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19) disease on Nov. 13, the Ukrainian Assoсiation of Football (UAF) said.

“Unfortunately, PCR tests taken on Nov. 13 morning from football players at the Steigenberger Grand Hotel [hotel in Germany], had positive results,” the Ukrainian Assoсiation of Football said in a statement on its website.

In particular, COVID-19 was detected in football players: Andriy Yarmolenko, Viktor Tsyhankov, Viktor Kovalenko and Serhiy Sydorchuk, as well as manager of the national team Vadym Komardin.

“Thus, the persons who have been diagnosed with coronavirus remained in self-isolation in their hotel rooms,” the UAF said.

On Nov. 14, in Leipzig, the match Germany-Ukraine will take place within the League of Nations tournament.
