GCHQ has warned football fans against connecting to hotel Wi-Fi or leave their smartphones or tablets in safes over fears they could be hacked while attending the World Cup in Russia this summer.

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), an offshoot of Britain’s surveillance agency, has warned fans to set up extra email protections and avoid accessing internet banking ahead of the tournament, which kicks off next month.
