Ukraine for the first time in history will be represented at the Winter Olympic Games in the skeleton.

“The only sportsman in Ukraine who received the appropriate license for the Games-2018, entering the Top-50 of the world ranking by the end of the season, was 19-year-old Vladyslav Heraskevych,” Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Ihor Zhdanov wrote on Facebook.

He noted that the ministry allocated more than Hr 1.4 million for the necessary training abroad for Heraskevych and his father-coach Mykhailo, participation in international competitions, purchase of uniforms and equipment.

Skeleton is a winter Olympic sport, which is a descent on an ice chute on a two-lane sleigh on a fortified frame, the winner of which is determined by the sum of two or four races.
