You're reading: Ukrainian boxer Usyk to fight Latvian Briedis in Riga on January 27

WBO world champion Oleksandr Usyk of Ukraine (13-0, 11 KOs) will fight WBC world champion Mairis Briedis (23-0, 18 KOs) in Riga on Jan. 27, according to the website of the World Boxing Super Series.

According to the report, the Ali Trophy semifinal bout in the cruiserweight edition of the World Boxing Super Series between Usyk and Briedis will take place at the Arena Riga.

Usyk, if he defeats Briedis, will face the winner of a fight between Russian Murat Gassiev (25-0, 18 KOs) and Cuban Yunier Dorticos (22-0, 21 KOs), which is scheduled for February 3, 2018 in Sochi.

The final battle, the winner of which will unite four cruiserweight belts, will be held in Saudi Arabia in May 2018.

The total prize fund of the WBSS tournament is $50 million.
